Rema

After his impeccable performance at the Ballon d’or, Afrobeat superstar Rema has boasted that his name will go down in the history of afrobeats in the world.

Speaking in an interview, the ”calm down” hitmaker declared that he recognized the impact and legacy he has created in the music scene.

Rema said that as an artist he had already earned his place in the new generational afrobeat music genre stating that even if he was to stop making music his name would still be in the front page of the afrobeats new testament bible if one creative mind ever decided to write such a book.

” I’m not saying I want to stop but if I say I want to stop right now my name is still going to be in the afro beats bible if there is ever been an afro beats bible to be dropped. I’ll be in the New Testament, on the the front page.” boasted the superstar.

The Afro beat singer also revealed that at first it was challenging since most people did not know that his sound was of Nigerian origin with many associating  his style in music to that of Indian themed songs.

Rema’s love for music started  when he was in school but his star did not shine till 2018 when  he caught the attention of  D’Prince’s after posting of him freestyling  to D’Prince’s track Gucci Gang.

D’prince’s was impressed and went ahead to sign Rema to his Jonzing World record label, a subsidiary of Mavin Records, in 2019.

The artist’s smash hit song Iron Man was included in Barack Obama’s 2019 summer playlist.

Rema however, joined the superstar status after the release of his banger ”calm down” which did extremely well pushing  him  to the international radar.

Besides music, the young star is also a brand ambassador who has worked with huge brands like Pepsi and BMW.

The artist has won and received nominations from different award categories. On 19 October 2019, He beat the likes of Zlatan, Fireboy DML, and Joeboy to win the Next Rated Award. He was nominated for BET’s Best International Act with Burna Boy and Wizkid.
