DJ Babu

Famous Dubai based Kenyan DJ Babu Robespierre passed away on 31st July 2023 after being involved in a grisly car accident in Dubai.

The famous DJ began his career in late 2008 with only a laptop he acquired while in campus from his parents. He started selling mix tapes in public service vehicles in the streets of  Nairobi.

DJ Babu Robspierre later moved to Dubai to pursue his blossoming DJ career stating that due to visa restrictions he had to get a job and work from 8am to 5pm as a customer service attendant.

The popular DJ notably said that people criticized his Deejaying ambitions stating that being a Dj is serious career choice, but nonetheless persevered and made a name for himself and also establishing his own entertainment company ‘JamDown’ in 2013.

DJ Babu was celebrated by many as a passionate and talented person and who dedicated himself to his art and represented Kenya with immense pride. Known for his innovation and creativity in his approach to music, he significantly left his mark on the entertainment scene,in Kenya, Dubai and internationally. Some of the big names that he has worked with include Khlaigraph Jones, Ssaru, Sauti Sol, Nyashinski, Masauti, Iyanni, MC Gogo among others.

Fans and colleagues expressed their shock and grief over the sudden death of the famous DJ.

Annie Ma Vicky shared a heartfelt condolence message, reminiscing about their recent conversation and expressing shock and disbelief over the painful loss. She posted,

“You have gone too soon DJ Babu. Just yesterday I spoke with you, and now you are no more. Can’t believe this. It’s really painful. May your soul rest in eternal peace. A very gentle, kind, and humble man I never met. Why so soon?”

Another fan, Mc Jatugo Kenya, remembered DJ Babu for his recent public hosting of Kenyan rapper Khaligraph Jones during a concert in Dubai over the past weekend. The news of Babu’s passing left many in disbelief, as he had been actively involved in the entertainment scene until the fateful car crash.
