King Charles III and Queen Camilla on Tuesday were received at the Statehouse by President William Ruto.

Also present were first Lady Margaret Kenyatta and Prime CS Musalia Mudavadi who doubles up as Foreign affairs CS.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua was conspicuously missing during the entire event. Kenyans however could not let that pass and have used the opportunity make fun about it.

In one instance,  one photoshopped a photo of president Ruto and his royal guests with Rigathi seemingly looking through the window.

In another photo of President Ruto and King Charles, Gachagua was photoshopped lagging behind in a track suit.

Anothe X user suggested that the government had decided to hide Gachagua in a bid to avoid embarrassments.

“Kumbe mlifungia riggy g,” read a comment.

Gachagua is however not in the country and that explains his absence during the King and queen’s visit to statehouse. He is said to be on his way from Germany where he held talks on coffee, climate change, and renewable energy, as well as meeting with Kenyans in diaspora.

The second in command left the country on Monday last week to represent President Ruto in Belgium, before proceeding to Germany.

The king and the queen are however in the currently for a 4-day state visit. This is their first official visit to an African country and commonwealth nation since their coronation in May after the death of Queen Elizabeth.
