President William Ruto in a video that has now gone viral sent a message of goodwill Kenya’s national football team Harambee stars.

Ruto clad in his signature Kaunda suit congratulated the Kenyan National Football team on their recent win against the Qatar national team last week.. Harambee stars beat Qatar 2-1 in a match that saw Kenyan fans outnumber the Qatar locals in the Al Janoub stadium.

Th president also sent an encouragement to Harambee stars ahead of their friendly match against South Sudan in Moi Sports stadium in Kasarani.

“Congratulations Harambee Stars for winning against the Qatar national team last week. I am happy very many Kenyans showed up in Qatar to cheer our team. As you are all aware, today (Tuesday) at 4.00pm Harambee stars will be playing against South Sudan. I want to ask all Kenyans to show up at 4.oopm to cheer our champions the Harambee stars.” Said the president in the 30 minutes long video.

Other stakeholders have rallied behind the President’s plea to Kenyans including Harambee stars Coach  Engin Firat who has been on the spot for the teams performance.

“If they really like the National team, if they really are patriots they should support. I have to say I lost a little bit the hope here but these people, and I have to thank them ,the people in, our people in Qatar, they gave us hope back.” answered the Coach when asked about his expectation on the fans turn out.

The South Sudan national team jetted into the country on Sunday Evening for the international friendly match.

Regular tickets for the match are retailing at ksh200 with VIP tickets going for ksh500. Three selling points were set aside which include One outside Kenya Cinema situated at the Central Business District In Nairobi and the other two at gate 2 and Gate 12.

This will be the first time since November 2021, that Kenya will host a football match pitting the men’s national team. We wish the home team all the best as always.
