Otile Brown

Singer Otile Brown has finally shared his thoughts on the heated discussion on artists representing Kenya on season  two of Coke Studio.

Nikita Kering and Khaligraph Jones are the only Kenyan artists who will be featured in the season.

While promoting his new song Confessions on Instagram, a fan suggested that Coke studio should consider rechecking their list insinuating that Otile had performed so well in the song.

Responding to the fan Otile Brown hinted that he is not bothered about not being on the list. According to him, Coke studio can not afford him and artists who want to be part of it should continue doing so.

“Hajawahifika bei ever since, wachukue hao wanaotaka kuenda,” he said.

The selection of Nikita and Khaligraph left Kenyans artists with mixed reactions.

Willy Paul wondered what criteria is used to select artist because he is among the artists who have been topping their charts. Wakadinali also were displeased with the selection.

“What criteria does coke studio use to pick musicians? Because for the longest time I have been topping  their surveys or is another cartel based system. We have myself, wakadinali, Otile Brown and many more anyway let me mind my business,” Willy Paul said.

DNA however came out to explain the possible reasons that saw some of the great artists left out of the list.

“Boutross Munene undebniably ndio amekuwa na hio banger ya 2023, Angela ni ngoma imeenda na inaendelea kuenda however because Boutross was caught slacking on the marking then imeaffect corporates’ tacking. Kama ni story ya kuderserve kuwa Coke studio, Boutross, wakadinali wanadeserve because they have been giving us bangers but we all know that life is unfair. I looked at their social media numbers, Spotify numbers, Otile Brown’s numbers are insane on all platforms sielewi mbona OB hayuko hapo maybe hawakuelewana na mambo ya fedha.

“All the same, my point is this hizi kampuni ni za watu and  for a company like coca cola I would say this companies are appealing to families. Hizi ni kampuni zinataka kuwa na image safi so they want clean brands and sad to say then some of the artists are disqualified. Msee kama Khaligraph doesn’t smoke weed on camera hana mangori so you a can understand why a safe brand would choose somebody like Khaligraph, Nikita,” he said.
