Ezekiel Kemboi, the steeplechase Olympic legend made a surprise appearance In Eldoret at a venue where Tanzanian bongo flavor artist, Alikiba was set to perform.
Kemboi who retired from active olympics was in high spirits as he addressed members of the press at the Red carpet.
The champion revealed that he is a fan of Alikiba’s songs and considers him a legend in the music industry and as such he was thrilled to be there and witness him perform.
”Alikiba kusema ukweli amekua legend wangu kwa kitambo sana. Napenda muziki wake ndio maana leo nimekuja kuona Alikiba akimbakwa sababu yeye ni legend” the former athlete stated.
When asked to list his favorite Alikiba tune, the athlete shied away explaining that he loved all his songs. He compared tunes to races telling the press that it would be tough for his fans to choose a favorite from all his races.
”No.Muziki zake zote. Sitasema ni gani kwa sababu yeye ni legend kama mimi.Ni kama sasa ulize Kemboi amekimbia gani, nimekimbia mingi sana so, Alikiba ameimba mingi napenda zote kwa sababu lyrics zake ni tamu sana.” Kemboi stated.
On his retirement, the athlete quoted the famous saying” Legends don’t retire they rest” stating that he was enjoying his money and having a good time.
He reminisced on his time as an athlete revealing that he could not get time to enjoy a drink due to his busy schedule.
”Kuna msemo inasema legends dont retire, legends rest. Saa hizi ndio tunapumzika. Naskia vizuri kwa sababu nakumbuka siku ile nilikua nakimbia sikua naenda club kukunywa kitu kukaa na marafiki, saa hizi vile napumzika nakula mali yangu na staaaaaaarabu.. ndio mana nimekuja kuona Alikiba akiperform.” the athlete explained.
