Mr. Ibu

Renown Nigerian actor John Okafor, popularly known as Mr. Ibu has permanently lost one of his legs after it was amputated on November 6, 2023.

Mr. Ibu went  through 7 surgeries before a final decision to amputate his leg was reached, in order to increase his survival and recovery chances.

Fans were however urged to accept the outcome as it was the new sad reality for Mr. Ibu.

“As of one Pm, noon today, daddy has gone through seven successful surgeries bit to keep him alive and increase his chances of recovery, one of his legs had to be amputated. This development has been hard on us all but weve had to accept it as daddy’s new reality to keep him alive”, read a statement that was shared by his family on his official Instagram account.

In the long heartfelt message, the writers thanked Nigerians  for coming through for their dad and offering their utmost support during this hard times.

“We want to appreciate everyone that has come through for our dad. Saying we are grateful is an understatement and only the good lord can thank you all enough for every help you’ve rendered,” the family stated.

They further called upon well wishers to continue offering financial support as Mr. Ibu’s predicament was far from over.

“Please we are still soliciting for support from well meaning Nigerians as at this stage, daddy is still on a very delicate one and he needs all the help he can get,” the statement further read.

Fans however expressed their unhidden remorse following the amputation as stated below

Faith Murugi wished that God does no forsake Mr Igbo.

“Wuee I have felt pain for him. I really hope that he accepts his new life and may God in heaven never forsake him,” sshe said. while Nyoroh wrote, ” God have mercy on him and quick recovery.”

The amputation however comes just a month after the 62-year old expressed fear of his leg being amputated after being bedridden for weeks due to undisclosed condition.
