University students are planning to hold a mega demonstration in Nairobi’s CBD on Friday over delays of Helb disbursement.

According to KU president Teddy Odhiambo, the demos will be witness across universities in the country.

Odhiambo said that they have since notified the Central Police station OCS of the looming protests.

He further said that he is aware of how the police have the tendency of interfering with peaceful demonstrations and cause chaos, but he warned that they will calm them down.

“And we know that the police have a tendency of rioting when we are peacefully demonstrating. If the police or when the police will start demonstrating or rioting when we are peacefully advocating for justice, we will ensure that we calm them down because Kenya needs peace sindio? Kenya needs peace. Kama police ndio wanaleta riots, tutacalm them down sindio?” he added.

He also issued a stern warning to comrades who don’t want to participate in the demonstration.

“And I’m sending a very strong signal to all comrades, It is either you attend the demonstrations or you go home. It is either you attend demonstrations or you stop studying in our universities.

The KU leader however reassured the comrades that there is no reason to worry since their leaders are with them.

“Msiogope sisi tuko na nyinyi na tutatembea safari hiyo bila wasiwasi msiwewezeke, msitetereke, msitetemeke na wala msitetereke,”KU president said.

Various universities have already started carrying out demonstrations among them being Multimedia University and Maseno University.
