Gitau

Authorities in Githurai Sub-County are delving into the perplexing circumstances surrounding the untimely demise of a young man on the eve of his wedding.

Fred Gitau, the groom-to-be, was discovered lifeless in his home merely hours before he was set to exchange vows with his fiancée, Joyce Waithera, casting a pall of sorrow over what was supposed to be a day of celebration.

The tragic incident unfolded on August 25, 2023, as the couple was poised to unite in matrimony at the Deliverance Church in Kahawa Sukari. In a macabre twist, Gitau’s lifeless body was found on the morning of the nuptials, his features marred by an unusual foam that had emanated from his mouth.

Sources close to the investigation revealed that Gitau had, in the days leading up to his demise, expressed grave concerns about his safety. He had reportedly confided in relatives, disclosing that he felt his life was in jeopardy and instructing them to alert the authorities should anything untoward happen to him.

“He told us that he was in danger and that if anything happened to him, we should inform the police,” the relative said.

A significant clue emerged when detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) stumbled upon Gitau’s wedding shirt, which had been stowed away in the rear seat of a taxi he frequented. The perplexing discovery only added to the enigma surrounding his death.

A DCI detective, speaking on condition of anonymity, disclosed that the circumstances of Gitau’s death were atypical and puzzling.

“We are in the process of meticulously reconstructing the events leading up to his demise,” the detective affirmed, highlighting the complexity of the ongoing investigation.

As the inquiry unfolds, the police have initiated inquiries with the individuals believed to be the last to have seen Gitau alive: the best man and the maid of honor. Their testimonies are expected to provide valuable insights into the final moments leading to his demise.

Perminus Muchangi, the police chief of Kiambu County, under whose jurisdiction the investigation falls, has assured the public that the case is receiving the highest priority.

Muchangi pledged to keep the public informed of any significant breakthroughs in the case as the investigation progresses.
