cherargei

The Senator of Nandi County Samson Cherargei was on 22nd November dismissed from a Senate Plenary where The Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport, Kipchumba Murkomen was summoned to answer questions, including leaking roofs at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport Terminals and the issue of roads in the country.

Cherargei was kicked out for causing disruptions during the Plenary that was chaired by Garissa County Senator Abdul Haji.

The disruption came as the senator raised concerns on why he was not given an opportunity to question Murkomen, yet other senators who arrived at the same time with him at the chambers were given the platform to do so.

Cherargei, who was asked to wait for Murkomen to finish answering the questions asked by other senators before he could raise his questions, did not comply leading to his dismissal.

“You cannot raise a point of order, let him finish the questions then you can rise” Haji instructed him.

Cheragei however did not adhere to the instructions given by Haji and stood up from his seat saying that Murkomen has been throwing insults at him and he demanded to get answers about roads on behalf of Nandi Residents.

Cherargei and Murkomen have been having differences for a while now and Cherargei has always taken the matter to his social media saying Kipchumba Murkomen demeans people and elected leaders even in funerals.

“Senator Cherargei We’ve heard you please leave the house” Haji, who coul no longer stand him ordered.

As Cherargei was leaving the chambers Murkomen fired back at him claiming that if President William Ruto could be reasoning like him he would not have been the President today.

Senators who had the opportunity to raise questions for Murkomen were Senator Edwin Sifuna,  Senator Ledama Ole Kina, Senator Boni Khalwale among others.
