Renown Kenyan actress Catherine Kamau alias Kate Actress is one of the many Kenyans who were feted by president William Ruto during Jamhuri Day on December 12, 2023.

The mother of two was honored with the with the Order of the Grand Warrior.

“…Has in her career has been through blood, sweat and tears over the years. At 36 year old and 15 year into her career, she has starred in producing award winning TV shows such as Mother-in-law, Sue Na Johnnie and Maempress. She has been part of feature films such as Disconnect, Nafsi, Plan B, Kutu and A Grand Lie. She is granted Order of the Grand Warrior, OGW,” Kate was introduced before the ward was presented to herby the head of the state.

Kate took to her Instagram to celebrate the milestone, adding that she will hopefully win the Oscars Award in 2024.

“I accept this honor with tremendous humility, this is just the beginning, 2024 tulete Oscars yes. Ni wow! Wow! Wow! kama ambulance my friends. Asanteni sana this is for us, our win my dear ones,” she said.

Lupita Nyong’o is the first and only Kenyan to win an award at the Oscars. The Kisumu governor’s daughter won the best supporting actress award in 2013.

The Order of The Grand Warrior Award is however presented to individuals in recognition of their outstanding service rendered to the country.

Other Creatives who received the ward are Jackie Vike, Comedian Njugush, Abel Mutua and Eddie Butita. The mother of one said that she was so humbled  and grateful for the recognition.

“I was honored to be awarded  the title, Order of the Grand Warrior, from His Excellency the president. I am truly humbled and grateful, thank you all for always supporting my content. The New OGW in town, hata kwa Bio iko already,” Jacky said.
