Celebrated Kiswahili Journalist Massawe Japanni has been called out by her fans for how she handled embattled Mercy Tarus during her show in her local radio station.
In the interview that was conducted yesterday Massawe Japani asked Tarus why she rejected the job offer given to her by Senator Oledama Olekina after she bravely confronted Uasin Gishu county bosses over botched Scholarships to Finland.
”Hapo awali Mercy umesema ya kwamba wewe ni msusi na na Saturday and Sunday unauza uji na mandazi ,uliweza kupatiwa kazi na mwesimiwa OleKina na you rejected the offer why , considering the financial burden ya nyumbani” Maasawe asked among many other questions.
‘Si mimi pekee yangu ndio mzazi ni mgonjwa, she replied before the interviewer interjected and Mercy then replied because it cannot only be for me and further gave a list of individuals who sail in the same boat with her.
In the short video uploaded on her Instagram Massawe is also heard asking Tarus who advised her to make such a decision adding that despite the whole situation one of them has to be in a better position in order to uplift the rest to which she responded;”The context of this whole situation ndio ili advice my decision adding that it is not a lost opportunity.
However her fans were not happy with how she conducted the interview and this is what they said
”Why is she making her feel like she made a wrong move? Everyone does what stands by her morals.

”The job was to shut her up… but that’s not why she spoke in the first place. She spoke to shed light to the situation that affected her people, not for the government to throw her a bone.
