Azimio la Umoja one Kenya Alliance has cancelled it’s town hall meeting that was to be held on Thursday, April 20th in Murang’a.

According to reports, Murang’a Police commander David Mathieu rejected Azimio’s request to hold the meeting over late notification. Mathieu said that the police needed to be notified early enough so that they could prepare adequately.

He further argued that the police had already been deployed  elsewhere, adding that such a notice should have been submitted four days before the planned event, contrary to Azimio’s request which was tabled on Tuesday 18th,.

Former Murang’a governor, Mwangi wa Iria is said to have submitted the notice to Murang’a Police station on the above-mentioned date. He also issued an assurance that the meeting was strictly a forum between the coalition leaders and locals, with the main agenda being to push for government inclusion.

The Murang’a meeting would have come just days after the political affiliation  held another town hall event in Nairobi on April 13. This was however going to be the first meeting for Azimio leaders in Mount Kenya region since elections.
