Kikuyu Member of Parliament Kimani Ichungwa has found himself on the wrong side of the law for his loose tongue. This is after Lawyer Danstan Omari Sued him for defamation over a tweet he shared.

In his tweet, the lawmaker claimed that Omari is an advocate only known along populous Nairobi Koinange street.

Ichungwa was replying to a tweet on NTV’s Twitter page which had featured a statement from Omari.

“Phew! at least am known Kikuyu by my people unlike the fake media based liar only known along Koinange Street!” tweeted Ichungwa.

In his suit, Omari argued that the legislator’s tweet implied that he is an unfaithful man who liked having the company of prostitutes.

Magistrate Caroline Cheptoo Kimei, who is presiding over the case on Friday May 5 ordered the  to defend himself against the charges in two weeks time.

“You are hereby within 15 days from the date of service hereof ordered to enter an appearance in the said suit where should you fail to enter an appearance within the time mentioned above, the plaintiff may proceed with the suit and Judgement may be given in your absence”, Kimei ruled

The city Lawyer lamented that Ichungwa’s tweet threatened the stability of his marriage union.

“That the impugned tweet by the defendant dated 1 February 2023 has the potential of ruining my family life, me being a married man and a father,”Omari stated in his affidavit.

The clash between Ichungwa and the renowned lawyer started when Omari advised President William Ruto against disrespecting former president Uhuru Kenyatta and Azimio la Umoja party leader Raila Odinga.

The case is set to be heard by court on June 26.
