Controversial content creator Andrew Kibe has been likened to the proverbial prophet who was never celebrated in his hometown. The sentiments were expressed by Kenyans Online after Kibe got nominated for an award in South Africa.

South African Social Media Awards nominated the former radio presenter for the social media African star of the year Award.

His nomination caught everyone by surprise as it came barely days after his YouTube channel got cancelled for allegedly violating  the community guidelines and policies.

Sharing the news with his fans, a surprised Kibe took to his X account and expressed his shock that his first ever award had came from  a foreign country.

“In all those years of producing content my first ever nomination and it had to come from outside Kenya.” he captioned the nomination poster.

Fans and critics swiftly took to the comment section, some congratulating the American based presenter while others hilariously gave their opinions on why Kibe has never landed a nomination in a  Kenyan award.

“A prophet is never accepted in his own hometown”

“Vote!! Let’s bring this home!”

“Not really us bro we are supportive but the gate keepers of the industry are the problem”

“Maybe because they don’t know you as much as we do” fans commented under his post.

Kibe is not to new to controversies as he has found himself at loggerheads with Kenyan celebrities for overly criticising their way of life.

After resigning from his radio job, the presenter moved to America where he creates live sessions on his social media account sharing his views on trending issues.

The former radio host now has something to celebrate after the termination of his  YouTube channel that boasted a huge following.

To vote for him, his fans are sending the code 44850 to the SMS Number 666.
